Computer Science
Computer science is very important for me since I was 12. Even before
I was interested in different fields of science. But computer sience especially
software development was and is my favorite.
To invent by itself stands in the foreground for me. Writing programs
means to be creative all the time. You divide, restructure and solve problems.
You put one tile to another until it forms a big integral whole. You do
that with an inexpressibly easiness - without hammering, sawing, screwing,
soldering - you work just with your head. It is fascinating to see how
you can move stupid machines to do complex and apparently intelligent
things.
Another aspect is that information and the technoligy in conjunction
with information has one of the most farreaching influences on our life
and on our society - science, technology, economy or our everyday life.
It is exciting to live in a time where our environment changes with breathtaking
speed. How science, the progress caused by information technology and
information technology itself are mutually exponentiated.
But we should not forget that humans do never change faster. They conform
slowly. We have to pay more attention to that.
Freelancer
I have decided to work as freelancer because I hope to have more space
for my own decisions relating to my work.
I plan to earn a part of my living as freelancer and the other with my
own developments (shareware).
Shareware
I like this form of software distribution. I think that is extremely
comfortable to test software before buying.
The internet is a cheap and fast infrastructure and very well suited
for software distribution. It was never so easy to sell a product.
Web-Site
The origin of this website was more of private nature. I did want to
have a domain of my own for my screen saver. I planned to publish a few
more of my programs and documents - the internet is patient (I hope so!).
Now a commercial aspect and the aspect of self-advetising was added.
There are a few points which were and are important for the design of
this site :
- fast to load (no 2.5 megabyte pictures)
- no security risks caused by scripts, Java, ActiveX, plugins
- W3C conform as far as possible
- clear and structured
- different than others
Mephzara
The strange name is a combination of "Mephisto" and "Zarathustra".
Mephisto comes from Goethes Faust. The extraordinary personification
of the devil (Mephisto) is very fascinating ("Part of that power
which would the evil ever do, and ever does the good" from Faust
I).
Faust is a searching schoolar. He doesn't fear to start an argument with
all kinds of elements (ghost etc.) and also with the devil himself to
find answers to the questions of questions ("Where do we come from?",
"Where do we go to?")
On his quest for answers he takes the devil as his schoolmaster and the
devil has some uncommon peculiarities. Which devil is frustrated and depressed
because he fights a hopeless fight against the good? Hopeless because
this fight itself causes the neverending cycle of creation and destruction
and with that life respectively the good.
The broken polarity of good and evil, right and wrong. The relativity
of humans points of view in relation to almost everything and of course
the power of thoughts and the language of Goethes Faust form my special
relation to this book.
The second part of the name is form Nietzsche's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra".
Zarathustra is a recluse. He tries to get to the bottom of almost everthing
what the society accepts to be given. He searchs and finds new wisdom.
He has the vision of a new kind of human beeing, who is able to leave
all ballast behind and exists in his most veritable nature. This human
makes every decision with his own will power, free from foreign influence.
He lives his nature. With innumerable parables Zarathustra dissects the
society, sanctimonious morale and ethics.
I like to try to get to the bottom of things. Change cannot be accomplished
by accepting everything old or given. However there cannot be evolution
if everthing will be destroyed and build new again. The compromise is
the challenge.
There are another two reasons for the name...
- the name is unique world wide. I didn't find any search engine that
finds something und Mephzara that is not related to me - more probably
it finds nothing.
- the name has a "PH". "PH" are dying out in german
(because of spelling reforms). Terms like photographie (Photographie
in german) lose their power without a "PH" ("Fotografie").
The Logo
The logo should be made of the two letters "M" and "Z".
This kind of letter-symbols were used earlier (not only earlier ;) as
talisman, protection spell or magical sign for power. Although I am a
big, big sceptic I can't deny a certain fascination for mystical things.

As said before, the symbol is made of the two letters "M" and
"Z" but with a small amount of phantasy you can put every letter
of "Mephzara" into the logo.
The circle signifies the whole, the world, the universe. The "Z"
looks in my eyes like a flash. The energy of the flash is the polarizing
force (spirit), which divides the world. The world itself accrues out
of perception, perceptions is based on differentiation - that means cutting
the whole. So the flash's dividing force creates the world with sizzling
sharpness out of undifferentiated subconscious and carries it to consciousness...
...well, but maybe it is enough that I like the logo and I think it fits
my personality... ;)
...you should not always take the intellectual prattle all too serious...
